A letter from Alix of Vergy (1234, October)

Translated letter:

I, Alix, duchess of Burgundy. make known to all who will look at the present letters that Guy Chabuz, with the approval and consent of Albert and Walter, his brothers, gave and conceded to God and the church of Lieu-Dieu near Vergy, and to the nuns serving God there, in perpetual alms twelve sesters of wine in the Vergy measure, to be collected each year at Molay (?Muulley); moreover it should be known that that same Guy, with the approval and consent of his aforesaid brothers, sold to that church of Lieu-Dieu his bordage of Ternes, to be possessed in perpetuity peacefully and freely, as he had held it, and three workdays worth of arable land next to the fountain of Ternes, to be similarly possessed in perpetuity, and all these above said, namely said alms as well as the sale of bordage and of arable land, said [sic] Pons de Blasey wished, approved, and conceded, in whose feof all the above are, and moreover the oftmentioned Guy and his previously named brothers are held to guarantee legally the abovesaid to the church against all. Enacted in this 1234th year in the month of October.

Ego Alaydis, ducissa Burgundie, notum facio universis presentes litteras inspecturis quod Guido Chabuz, laude et assensu Auberti et Galteri, fratrum suorum, dedit et concessit Deo et ecclesie Loci Dei prope Virgeium, et sanctimonialibus ibidem Deo servientibus, in perpetuam elemosinam duodecim sextarios vini ad mensuram Virgei, singulis annis percipiendos apud Muulley; preterea sciendum quod idem Guido, laude et assensu fratrum suorum predictorum, vendidit eidem ecclesie Loci Dei bordam suam des Ternes, possidendam in perpetuum pacifice et libere, sicut ipse eam tenebat, et tria jornalia terre arabilis sita juxta fontem de Ternes, similiter in perpetuum possidenda, et hec omnia supradicta videlicet tam dictam elemosinam quam venditionem Borde et terre arabilis voluit, laudavit et concessit dictus Poncius de Blasey de cujus feodo sunt omnia supradicta, et insuper sepe dictus Guido et fratres sui prenominati tenentur supradicta dicte ecclesie contra omnes legitime garantire.
