A letter from Aleid

Translated letter:

To all the faithful of Christ who will look at the present letters, Aleid, wife of the late lord John of Avesnes, greetings and to know the truth.

Your community should know that being in our presence John of Tolloisen, son of the late Hugheman of Wieldrecht, affirmed that a donation of a half part of the tithe of Tiezelinskerke was made by Gerard, knight, late lord of Wieldrecht, his grandfather, to the church of St. Mary of Doest for the remedy of his soul, to be held stable and firm, promising to observe inviolably all and each [item] contained in the privilege arranged by said G. knight over said donation.

In witness of which thing we have had our seal placed on the present letters.

Dated and enacted in the 1276th year of the Lord, on the Saturday after the feast of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist.

Universis Christi fidelibus presentes litteras inspecturis Aeleidis uxor quondam domini Iohannis de Auennis salutem et noscere veritatem.

Noverit universitas vestra quod in nostra presentia constitutus Iohannes de Tholouse, filius quondam  Hughemanni de Wieldrecht, confessus est donationem dimidie partis  decime de Tieselinskerke a Gerardo milite, quondam domino de Wieldrecht, avo suo, ecclesie beate Marie de Thosan pro remedio anime sue factam se habere ratam et firmam, promittens omnia et singula contenta in privilegio dicti G. militis super donatione predicta confecto inviolabiliter observare.

In cuius rei testimonium presentibus litteris sigillum nostrum duximus apponendum.

Datum et actum anno Domini M° CC°  LXXVI, sabbato post festum Nativitatis beate Iohannis Baptiste.
