Translated letter:
From this hour forward, I Peter-Raymond son of Guila shall not deceive/deprive you, Ermengard daughter of Rangard nor you Bernard Ato son of Ermengard, of that castrum which they call Foix nor of those fortifications which are there today, etc. As is written above, so I will hold and attend to all in righteous faith without deception from you said Ermengard and your son Bernard after the death of count Roger, if he should die without a child from a woman he had married .
Original letter:
Historical context:
This records an oath taken to Ermengard and her son for the castrum of Foix, to hold it of them if count Roger dies without issue. A castrum is an administrative unit with a castle at the center.
