A letter from William, lord of Apremont

Translated letter:

To his dearest lady Blanche, countess of Champagne, William lord of Apremont [sends] greetings and love.  I make known to you that those 30 pounds of land which I held from you are my brother Guy’s, and came to him on his part, and I was not your man for that land except in custody for Guy, my brother.  On account of which I diligently beg you that you give back and confer that land back on my said brother as his.

Karissime domine sue B(lanche) comitisse Campanie, G(uillelmus) dominus de Aspro monte, salutem et dilectionem. Vobis notum facio, quod ille XXX librate terre quas de vobis tenebam, fratris mei sunt Guidonis, et sibi in partem suam venerunt, et de terra illa non eram homo vester nisi per manborniam G(uidonis), fratris mei. Quapropter vos diligentissime deprecor, quatinus predicto fratri meo terram istam sicut suam reddatis et conferatis.

A request from William, the guardian of his brother’s land, to confer the land formally on his brother.
