A grant of land

Translated letter:

We Elizabeth, by the grace of God queen.  We signify to all to whom the presents are shown that having considered various things and [his] services of merit, which Andrew count/ispán of Bana, son of Ivánka, loyally gave as much to our Lord and consort King Stephen of happy memory as to us, and especially while we were captive in his care in castle Turul by the perfidy of certain of our barons, in recompense of his loyal services and the quantity of money, a hundred marks, which he lent us at a time of immense necessity, we have donated, given, conferred on count Andrew a certain land of ours called Vásárfalu adjoining and neighboring his hereditary possessions, with all their uses and appurtences for him and his heirs and successors of his heirs to possess by perpetual right.  Dated at Alba in the 1274th year of the Lord, on the day after the octave of St. John the Baptist.

Historical context:

The queen confers land on ispán Andrew in recompense for his services to her when she was imprisoned by rebellious barons after the death of her husband.  Zsoldos, The Árpáds and Their Wives, 69 notes that there is no reference in the document to people on the land, so perhaps only the land was granted.  Vásárfalu is in Nyitra county
