An oath of fidelity

Translated letter:

I Mir son of the woman Ermengard swear that from this hour forward I shall be faithful to Ramon, count of Barcelona, son of countess Sancha, and to countess Elizabeth from this hour forward without fraud and evil contrivance and without deceiving said Ramon and said countess Elizabeth.  I, said Mir, from this hour forward shall not despoil said count Ramon nor said countess Elisabeth in that city that they call Barcelona nor that county they call Barcelona, nor that March of Barcelona, nor the city they call Manresa, nor the county they call Osona, nor that city they call Girona, nor that county they call Girona after the death of countess Ermessend, nor those castros and castles, nor the cliffs and hills, nor the land that lies in those counties or within the bounds of said counties.  I said Mir shall not take any of the above nor take from said Ramon nor said Elisabeth, nor I said Mir, nor any men or women by my counsel nor by my contrivance.  I said Mir shall be an aid to said Ramon and said Elizabeth to hold and have all the above against all men or any man, women or woman, who would want to take from said Ramon and Elizabeth or have taken all the above or from all the above.  As is written above, so I shall hold and keep to said Ramon and Elisabeth, I said Mir, shall hold and keep to said Ramon and said Elisabeth without evil contrivance and deception.  So help me God and the services of the saints.

And that city of Olerdola, with its castles and villages which are in that city or will be in the future, or that status which the count ought to have there, I said Mir shall not take from you, nor shall I refuse you, said Ramon and Elizabeth, not I nor any man, men, woman or women by my counsel or by my contrivance.  And if there should be a man or men, woman or women, who would take or wished to take from you said Ramon and Elizabeth or refused or would refuse all the above or from all the above, or what you had instructed me, I will not associate with them or him (male and female), until you have recovered all the above completely.

Historical context:

Mir Geribert, a first cousin once-removed of Ramon through his mother Ermengard, swears an oath of fidelity to the count and countess for the city of Olerdola.  The date of the oath given in the edition cannot be correct if countess Elizabeth was party to it.  A castrum is an administrative unit with a castle at the center.
