Teresa de Borja/Boria
Overview
Biography
Teresa was apparently from a powerful family of Aragonese magnates, perhaps a sister of count Ermengol VI of Urgell and married to Garcia, son of count Sancho Ramirez. She was the mother of Pedro de Atarés, called Pedro Taresa in the chronicles. He died before 1151, when the count of Barcelona, Ramon Berenguer IV, made an agreement with Teresa, giving her power over the castle of Borja, which Pedro had ceded to the Templars. The count made a separate agreement with the Templars to turn over the castles of Borja and Magallón, which Pedro had previously held, to Teresa and discharge her from hommage and fidelity to their order. Teresa signed that agreement.*
