A letter from Bonifilio

Translated letter:

I, Bonifilio, son of the late woman, Jocelend, swear to you Raymond, count, son of the late Sancia, countess, and to you Almodis, countess, daughter of the late Amelia, countess, that from this hour forward I shall be faithful to you [pl] by direct faith without trickery, without fraud and evil artifice and without any deception.  Moreover, also I swear to you that from this hour forwards, as long as I live, no harm or wrong will come to you, said count Raymond and countess Almodis, nor to yours, from my fortress which is called Talada through me or by my counsel or my artifice, or by those men or women who will be in said fortress.  And if you have war from now on with Pons Gerall, viscount, I shall not stop you from making war against said Pons and his [people] and his honor  from said fortress nor [prevent] guard duty nor entry and exit, not to you, said count Raymond and countess Almodis, nor to yours, namely abbot Berengar, and Umbert Odo and Raymond Miro, your seneschal, and Arnall Raymond, nor also Raymond Miro of Totel and William Lobateres, nor those who followed them in your service, and you and the aforesaid with their men will not meet delay there in entry or exit, nor in that guard duty by those men or women who will be in that fortress.  And while this war goes on between you [pl] and said Pons Gerall, if you should wish to use any buildings in the neighborhood as lodgings, I would not stop you, nor any man or woman by my counsel or by my artifice.  And I, said Bonifilio, would help you [myself] in said war, along with the fortress, by faith without deception.  And as is written above, so I shall hold and keep, by God and these saints, and this inscribed oath or agreement which I make to said count and countess, l leave out of this the viscount of Cardona.
